Virtual Farm Tour Sub-Committee Forming
Are you an educator? Do you have experience with farm tours, virtual farm tours or working with student groups? The RCTB is looking for several volunteers to serve on a short-term committee to investigate virtual farm tours as a potential RCTB program. This is a fact-finding committee, tasked with considering options available for developing a virtual farm tour program and reporting back to the board. If you are interested, please email Jane Neubauer at: trees@sugarpinesfarm.com

RCTB Seeks Board Nominees – Four Positions to be Appointed

The RCTB has four board seats that will be up for appointment effective January 1, 2025. Although the final appointment is made by the Secretary of Agriculture, the RCTB has the responsibility to provide two nominees for each open seat.

The first step in the process is for interested candidates to submit nomination forms. Growers can self-nominate or can be nominated by other growers or organizations – such as state or national associations. These are due in the RCTB office by June 1, 2024. Nominees must have domestically produced and sold or imported 500 Christmas trees or more during the most recent fiscal period and have paid all past and present assessments in full. Importer candidates must be an Importer of Record during the most recent fiscal period and have paid all past and present assessments in full. Producers who produce Christmas trees in more than one region may seek nomination only in the region in which they produce the majority of their Christmas trees.

There are two Western region seats, one Eastern region seat and one Importer seat up for appointment and the nomination form can be downloaded HEREEach seat is a three-year term.

AMS policy is that diversity of the boards, councils and committees it oversees should reflect the diversity of their industries in terms of the experience of members, methods of production and distribution, marketing strategies, and other distinguishing factors, including but not limited to individuals from historically underserved communities, that will bring different perspectives and ideas to the table. Throughout the full nomination process, the industry must conduct extensive outreach, paying particular attention to reaching underserved communities, and consider the diversity of the population served and the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the members to serve a diverse population.

Annual Report Now Available

Last week the RCTB mailed out the Annual Report to all assessment payers. If you did not see the Annual Report in the mail or if you are an exempt grower, you can view a digital version of the Annual Report HERE.
