RCTB Shares Results of 2025 Marketing Campaign

RCTB has created a video showcasing highlights and benchmarks from its 2025 marketing campaign. The video can be viewed online at: www.realchristmastreeboard.org/promotion/.

The video showcases a series of national television segments that shared RCTB key messaging, discussed the impact of tariffs driving consumer preferences for real trees and highlighted data from the RCTB grower survey indicating the majority of growers would not be raising their wholesale prices.

The video also outlines the four key steps of RCTB’s 2025 marketing strategy:

  • Conducting annual grower and consumer surveys and using that data to craft targeted messages
  • Updating the RCTB online newsroom hub with easily accessible resources and assets
  • Launching Google Search Engine Marketing that drove traffic to the RCTB online newsroom
  • Sharing proactive, relevant press releases that kept RCTB engaged with media

As a result, RCTB reported the following.

RCTB will share additional metrics from the 2025 RCTB marketing campaigns in future newsletters.

RCTB Research Project Showcase

In this issue, we showcase the fourth of six RCTB-funded research projects for the upcoming year.

Creating a useful degree day model to target vulnerable stages of armored scales — North Carolina State University – Dr. Jamie Bookwalter)

This project will develop a robust predictive degree day model for armored scale treatment by gathering two years of phenology data and creating life tables to forecast the seasonal timing of vulnerable stages of Fiorinia externa (Diaspididae). This will lay the groundwork for the identification of a more useful biofix based on biology, not a calendar date. As the populations of this pest creates issues for effective IPM, creating a degree day model is obligatory for the determination of effective and efficient pesticide application timing so that more informed recommendations can be given to producers across the range of this insect.
